About the Opportunity
If you enjoy working outdoors, getting stuck into hands-on work, and being part of a team that keeps the community running, this is the job for you. You’ll operate machinery, maintain roads and drainage, and help build the infrastructure that locals rely on every day. It’s a role where your work is seen, appreciated, and makes a real difference.
You’ll be supported by experienced professionals who take pride in mentoring their team and helping each person grow and succeed.
You will make an impact by
- Keeping roads, drains, and public spaces safe and well-maintained.
- Operating gear like excavators, skid steers, and street sweepers.
- Pitching in with manual tasks like digging, lifting, and raking.
- Looking after the tools and machinery, you use every day.
- Helping make sure worksites are safe for everyone.
What you will bring
- A current minimum license required is a Heavy Rigid Victorian Driver Licence (or willingness to upgrade—we’ll support you with paid time).
- Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- A solid work ethic and interest in civil maintenance or machinery.
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
- Basic tech skills—comfortable using a tablet to check schedules or messages.
- Experience and qualifications in plant and equipment operation (excavator, skid steer, etc.).
- A strong focus on safety and doing the job right.
Please note, you will also need to
- Commit to obtaining -within 3 months of being eligible- an upgrade to a Heavy Combination Victorian Driver Licence category.
- Cardinia will allow paid work time to achieve this but will not reimburse any costs.
