In this role, you will join a supportive, enthusiastic and passionate team, with the opportunity to work across the whole organisation to bring people together and deliver meaningful outcomes. Your exceptional project management skills will be essential as you coordinate priorities, build strong relationships and drive initiatives that support Council’s climate resilience goals.
You will make an impact by
- Leading the development, implementation and ongoing review of Council’s Climate Change Adaptation Plan and Towards Zero Emissions Plan.
- Providing expert advice to Council and the community on climate change adaptation, energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
- Managing Council’s carbon inventory and emissions reporting, including data tracking, analysis and compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Designing and delivering climate change, resilience and energy efficiency projects, programs and initiatives.
- Identifying opportunities to improve environmental performance through renewable energy, innovation and best-practice approaches.
- Contributing to policy and strategy development, including preparing submissions and responses to government legislation and programs.
- Building and maintaining strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, government agencies and regional networks, including the South East Councils Climate Change Alliance.
- Staying informed on emerging trends, policy and regulatory changes in climate resilience, energy and emissions management.
- Tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering, planning, carbon management or a related discipline.
- Sound understanding of climate change adaptation, resilience and carbon emissions frameworks, including relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting on policy, strategies or programs.
- Proven ability to plan, deliver and oversee projects effectively, with strong time management skills.
- Well-developed research, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate across teams.
- Knowledge or experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy and emissions management (desirable).
- A collaborative, innovative and future-focused mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning and sharing knowledge.
