CARDINIA SHIRE COUNCIL AUDIT and RISK COMMITTEE
A vacancy exists on Council’s Audit and Risk Committee, and Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified individuals for appointment as an independent member. Applicants must possess appropriate qualifications and experience in one or more of the following disciplines: accounting, risk management, auditing, or law.
Cardinia Shire Council has established its Audit and Risk Committee in accordance with Section 53 of the Local Government Act 2020. The Committee supports Council in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities in relation to financial and performance reporting, risk management, fraud prevention and control, maintenance of an effective internal control framework, assurance activities (including internal and external audit), and compliance with legislative, regulatory, and policy requirements.
Independent members are appointed for a four-year term and may be eligible for reappointment for one additional four-year term, subject to satisfactory performance. Collectively, independent members must demonstrate expertise in financial management and reporting, risk management, and experience in public sector governance.
The Committee currently meets five times per year. Independent members are remunerated per meeting at a rate determined by Council.
