About the opportunity
Are you passionate about technology, problem-solving and helping people get the most from business systems? As our IT Business Systems Officer, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing the systems that enable Council to deliver essential services to the community. Working closely with business stakeholders, vendors and technical teams, you'll help drive continuous improvement, support critical projects, and contribute to smarter, data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
The IT Business Systems (ITBS) team manages and supports Council's business applications, integrations, data and reporting platforms. We partner with business areas to deliver reliable systems, improve processes and enable informed decision-making through technology.

You will make an impact by
- Providing technical support, troubleshooting and resolution for incidents and service requests across Council's business systems.
- Supporting the delivery of business system projects, enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Plan, implement and monitor server patching for business systems to maintain security, performance and operational reliability.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and identify opportunities to improve processes and technology outcomes.
- Coordinating with external vendors and service providers to maintain reliable and effective system performance.
- Developing and maintaining system documentation, knowledge articles, test plans and support resources to improve service delivery.
What you will bring
- Demonstrated experience supporting IT business systems/applications and delivering technical solutions in a customer-focused environment, with a relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related field.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and produce high-quality documentation.
- Demonstrated experience supporting projects, including requirements gathering, testing, change implementation and stakeholder coordination.
- Technical proficiency across Microsoft technologies, including Windows, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, SharePoint, Power Platform and Teams.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, including the ability to perform simple queries and navigate the platform.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an understanding of IT Service Management practices and a commitment to continuous improvement.
