About the Opportunity

As a Senior Growth Area Planner focused on Cardinia’s Urban Growth Area, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding sustainable development, influencing how communities evolve, and ensuring planning outcomes reflect the needs of today and tomorrow. You’ll be part of a passionate, forward-thinking team that values innovation, collaboration and impact.
You will make an impact by
- Assessing and managing planning permit applications for subdivision and development in growth areas
- Supporting the delivery of strategic planning frameworks including Precinct Structure Plans and Development Contribution Plans
- Providing expert statutory planning advice to Council, senior leaders and internal stakeholders
- Representing Council at VCAT and preparing high-quality submissions
- Mentoring junior staff and contributing to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
What you will bring
- To be successful in this role, you’ll bring a strong foundation in statutory planning and a passion for shaping sustainable communities. Your ability to lead, mentor and collaborate will be key to your impact. You’ll also bring:
- A tertiary qualification in planning or a related discipline
- Proven experience in statutory planning, including assessing applications within growth areas and Precinct Structure Plans
- Sound knowledge of planning legislation, policies and statutory frameworks
- Highly developed research, analytical and report-writing skills
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in presenting complex information clearly to a range of audiences
- A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and stakeholder engagement
