About the opportunity – This is a hands-on, community-focused role where you’ll play a vital part in maintaining and enhancing the appearance, safety, and functionality of Council’s open spaces and townships. As a Township Maintenance Officer, you will directly contribute to creating clean, enjoyable environments that residents and visitors can take pride in. You will make an impact by
- Maintaining open spaces and township areas to ensure safe, clean, and well-presented community environments
- Delivering minor construction works including concreting, welding, woodworking, signage, and playground component repairs
- Conducting routine inspections and maintenance of assets such as playgrounds, park furniture, bridges, and public spaces
- Performing general maintenance tasks including litter removal, cleansing, graffiti removal, and labouring duties
- Safely operating and maintaining a range of plant and equipment to support maintenance and construction activities
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance, construction or a similar outdoor role
- Practical skills across general repairs, minor construction, and use of hand and power tools
- Ability to safely operate plant and equipment such as tractors, skid steers, hot washers and other machinery
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safe work practices
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks including lifting, carrying, digging, and raking
- Proven ability to inspect, identify, and respond to maintenance needs across a diverse range of assets
- A proactive, reliable approach with strong teamwork and time management skills
