If so, we would love to hear from you!Join the Infrastructure and Environment business unit as a Civil Maintenance Officer/Truck Driver and maintain Council’s infrastructure in order to provide an effective road network, drainage system, clean streets and a safe travelling environment for all road users.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Efficient execution of a wide range of maintenance and construction tasks, usually within the road reserve, including (but not limited to) drainage, unsealed and sealed road maintenance and minor construction, concreting, street furniture installation and maintenance, asphalting, having special regard to safety, customer requirements and cost.Safe and efficient operation of a range of plant associated with maintenance and construction activities, which may include (but not limited to), graders, excavators, tip trucks, backhoes, Flocon, compaction equipment, street sweeper truck and skid steers.Perform manual tasks such as lifting, carrying of materials, raking and digging.Carry out regular inspections/checks and minor servicing of any plant or equipment.In this position you will be able to efficiently operate a heavy combination truck and have the ability to operate other plant and equipment (e.g. grader, skid steer, excavator, street sweeper truck).Hours of work will generally be a 9 day fortnight 7.15am – 4.15pm with a 30 minute lunch break, the RDO to be taken at a rostered time each fortnight and the regular day before your RDO will be 7.15am –3.45pm. Total hours 76 a fortnight.About youTo be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:Understanding of hazard identification and the Occupational Health & Safety requirements applicable and risks associated to specific tasks performed.Have a current Victorian Driver Licence with Heavy Combination Truck Endorsement (or heavy rigid truck licence and be prepared to obtain heavy combination within 6 months of commencement).Hold appropriate licences and certificates/endorsements to operate plant.Have knowledge and experience in the safe operation of plant equipment.Ability to follow work schedules utilising electronic devices such as hand-held tablets.Understanding of customer service and the ability to respond to members of the public in a responsible manner.We will assist applicants to obtain HC licence with some in house training, however applicants must hold at MR licence as a minimumAbout us Cardinia Shire Council is a dynamic and progressive organisation.
