As a Municipal Building Surveyor, you will join a supportive team who work hard but are always are up for a laugh.Reporting to the Manager, Development and Compliance, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:Undertake the role and function of the Municipal Building Surveyor under the Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2018.Ensure that services provided by Council's Building section meet the requirements of the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, and othe relevant legislation.Lead and manage staff in the Building team as well as support the Manager Development and Compliance Services when required.Provide for the enforcement of safety and building standards including the investigation of complaints, inspection of illegal, non-complying or unsafe building works and the undertaking of enforcement action.About YouThe ideal candidate for this role requires knowledge and understanding of regulatory issues and emerging trends and how these should be effectively addressed. You will have excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate appropriate public participation and community awareness of building control services and obligations. You will be an agile leader, who can motivate and guide others. You will also meet the following criteria: Registration as a Building Surveyor (Unlimited) by the Building Practitioners Board.Relevant experience in municipal building surveying.Degree or diploma in building surveyingSound knowledge and understanding of municipal building control functions including building related legislation, codes and standards.
