You will have the opportunity to lead strategic planning projects including the preparation of Precinct Structure Plans, urban design frameworks and infrastructure contribution plans, across the Shire’s developing growth corridor. Importantly, this role is within a supportive and collaborative team environment where your passion for achieving great planning outcomes, business improvements and personal development is encouraged.Key responsibilities of the role includeThe key responsibilities will allow you to play an important role in achieving soundly based and sustainable outcomes for the natural and built environment and wellbeing of the community in the Cardinia Shire.Assist with the development of precinct structure plans, strategies and policies within the Shire’s growth area including the Pakenham South Employment PSP and ICP.Undertake research on strategic issues and provide advice to Council and senior management about their implications for Cardinia.Consult with internal and external stakeholders in relation to strategic planning projects, planning scheme amendments, and development applications.Coordinate and project manage multi-disciplinary consultant teams, including ensuring quality of outputs and their integration with other components of projects.Negotiate outcomes with government agencies, infrastructure service providers and developers.About youTo excel in this position, you will have a strong knowledge of, and demonstrated experience in, the development and implementation of strategic planning projects. You will also have sound experience in the preparation and presentation of reports at Panel Hearings for planning scheme amendments.To be successful in this role, you will have the following:A tertiary qualification in planning or a related discipline with a relevant major (such as geography) and experience in strategic planning.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of growth area or structure planning processes including relevant planning related legislation.Ability to prepare strategies, policies, guidelines, plans and other projects.Ability to research and analyse information and prepare concise reports and and recommendations.Knowledge and understanding of social, economic, environmental and political context of planning issues.About usCardinia Shire Council is a dynamic and progressive organisation.
